The Color White

After I finished shooting Natasha, it was time to start setting up for my shoot with Anne Costa, who represented the color white. For every subject and color I always create a mood board way before the shoot to start planning out my setups. Not every setup is always planned though, sometimes inspiration strikes in the moment!

Before I started shooting any subject, I asked them a series of questions to gauge how to design a shoot best suited to who they are. With Anne, she told me this beautiful story of how she grew up surrounded by nature and how her grandmother referenced white flowers. I knew I wanted to design a shoot that was true to the elements she told me in her story and used a ton of plants and flowers in my setups…

The last setup up I did was creating a splattered canvas look to go into how she expressed white being like a blank canvas and how you see every mark…

I ordered a piece of canvas from Amazon and had a great time splattering paint on it previous to the shoot. After this, I hung a black drop and clamped the piece of canvas to it. See image below.
