The Color Purple

The time had come to finally shoot the color purple and my college friend, Maggie Eskridge! When creating the mood board for this color, I wanted to focus more on the whimsical feeling of the color purple. Maggie is an actor and writer who is both creating new worlds and acting as new characters all the time. I wanted the color to showcase the multiple roles and stories she steps into.

The main component of the series was hanging a purple drop and adding elements depending on the setup.

We had such a great time playing with powder and paint. She was also a real trooper staying in position waiting for the paint to dry under her arm haha! I have also found that using tempura, basically children’s finger paint, is great to use on the body during shoots.

The last setup I did was use a projector so I could basically project really anything I wanted onto the subject and backdrop. This was something I had been wanting to experiment with for awhile and I’m glad this shoot gave me the opportunity to do so! Overall, shooting purple was both a success and fun experience!
