Pink!

After drying off all my fabric from the pool shoot, it was time to start prepping my setups for my pink series! Sarah Delucchi, who was my subject, had picked the color pink because she loved how it reflected how feminine she was underneath her tough exterior. So I started going through the mood board and I really started falling in love with the aspect of using these soft pinks, fuzzy items and just this 90’s(ish) feeling of glamour and femininity.

First, I wanted to use a pink drop for the majority of my shoots, so I ordered a pink drop from my favorite camera store, B&H. I knew I wanted to add more texture to create that fuzzy, almost dreamlike feel, so I brainstormed different materials I could use. I had used cellophane during some of my previous shoots and had really liked the texture it gave those shots, so I decided to give it it try. I ordered a roll of both pink and white cellophane to use. Honestly, this was very simple and effective setup. I finished it off by adding in a purple light to reflect off the cellophane.

After I finished the setups using the pink drop and cellophane in the studio, it was time to move into the bedroom shots. I moved my pink drop from the studio and set it up behind the bed. Sarah brought this great fuzzy blanket that I was able to use a rug as well. For some reason, I’m not sure what, I didn’t take any behind the scenes photos of my first setups! The image below is a screenshot from a video Sarah had taken of the bedroom setup.

After finishing up with the bedroom shots, it was time to move onto the final setup in the bathroom. This was definitely the funnest setup for the color pink. I had bought a few pink tinsel curtains and paired it with some of the pink cellophane to basically envelope the tub in pink. I had also spent a few hours blowing up pink balloons prior to Sarah’s arrival for these shots as well. You’ll have to look at the full series to see the balloons!
